Gerakan Tanam Mangrove Bersama

UI alumni, KMK UI and KLHK RI realize the love of the earth by planting 500 Rhizopora mangrove seedlings. The government is targeting that by 2024 it will reach 600,000 hectares of mangroves across the coast of Indonesia. Mangrove plants are able to absorb and store carbon 4 times more than ordinary plants. 20% of the world’s mangroves are in Indonesia. Mangroves live in estuaries where land and sea meet, where there is sediment. The waves are not too big. Tropical area with enough hot sun. Sandy beaches are not suitable for mangroves. There are 202 mangrove species and their associations. There are only 45 pure mangrove species. Mangrove waters are rich as nursery ground for fish species. Today’s planting was carried out with local residents in the Teluk Naga area, Tangerang. This activity was carried out in the framework of World Mangrove Day.
Resident SMEs also exhibit non-timber products from mangrove cultivation, namely mangrove syrup, chips from mangrove flour, mangrove batik. ‘.
