The newly-established Commission on Ecology of the Archdiocese of Nueva Segovia in the province of Ilocos Sur, Philippines spreads a clarion call to all the faithful of the local Church to actively express their care and compassion for God’s creation, through their participation in the global Pilgrim’s Walk for Future on the first Saturday of the Season of Creation 2022. Being one of the first activities of the said Commission, the Pilgrim’s Walk will commence with a short morning prayer at 5:15 AM at the front grounds of the Immaculate Conception Minor Seminary (ICMS), located in the rural barangay of Ayusan Sur, and will culminate at San Pedro Beach where the Archdiocesan Director for Ecology will preside over the Eucharistic Celebration. After the Eucharist and communal breakfast, the participants will then return to the ICMS where they will plant the Foundation Tree (fig tree) of the Commission on Ecology on a small lot labelled as “The Laudato Si’ Sanctuary of Nueva Segovia.”

6:30 AM – ETA at San Pedro Beach
6:45 AM – Earth Examen and Eucharistic Celebration along San Pedro Beach
7:45 AM – Communal Breakfast
8:30-9:30 AM – Walk back to ICMS
9:30-10:00 AM – Planting of the Foundation Tree at “The Laudato Si’ Sanctuary of Nueva Segovia”
