The Walk for Creation was born on September 1, 2017 to celebrate the World Day of Prayer for the Care
of Creation and to open the celebration of Season of Creation. It was initiated by the Laudato Si’ Movement
Pilipinas, formerly Global Catholic Climate Movement Pilipinas and its partners. Since then, it has become a
tradition every year and was done virtually during the past two years of pandemic.
Inspired by the Pastoral letter of 1988, “What is Happening to Our Beautiful Land”, which calls to
celebrate the beauties and pains of the natural world, our connectedness and the ongoing struggle for justice
and affirmed by Pope Francis encyclical Laudato Si’, On Care of our Common Home and the succeeding pastoral
letters of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines, Walk for Creation aims to inspire and motivate all
people of goodwill to undergo ecological conversion.
