The Creation Mysteries: A Rosary Related Reflection

September 8, 2021 @ 3:30 pm - 4:15 pm UTC+0

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every week that begins at 3:30 pm on Wednesday, repeating until October 27, 2021

For the month of September & October, we will focus our prayer intentions towards Integral Ecology and Ecospirituaity.

What is Ecospirituality?
Ecospirituality connects the science of ecology with spirituality. It brings together religion and environmental activism. Pope Francis has asked us in his encyclical, “Laudato Si’, to develop an ecological spirituality. Ecospirituality has been defined as “a manifestation of the spiritual connection between human beings and the environment.”
In the spirit of the Church’s Season of Creation, beginning September 8th, we will gather weekly on Wednesdays to pray in a “creative” way with our hearts and minds focused on the ecological intentions as promoted by Pope Francis. We hope you will join us for this ecospiritual experience.
This ecospiritual experience is our response to Pope Francis’ invitation to act, as he declares September the beginning of the Season of Creation. Using the model of the traditional rosary, but with a “creative” twist, we will gather to pray and reflect in a new way on what is called the “Creation Mysteries” (created by Christopher Thompson, academic dean of the St. Paul Seminary School of Divinity in St. Paul.)
It seems that with the Pope’s newest call to focus on the gift of creation, this rosary related reflection might be a practical way to bring together the ancient and the present moment, especially considering the global Eco Emergency that we are currently experiencing. As a new form of contemplative creativity, we expect this experience will enrich our collective contemplative encounter with Christ.
