As we move into the third week of the Season of Creation, here are some of the activities that have taken place in various regions of the world in action and prayer for our common home. The action of local leaders is the “firstfruits of hope” that gives life to a better future.
This week’s highlights
In Rome, the EcoCharity Garden was inaugurated at the foot of the Aventine Hill, combining ecology and spirituality. It was a collaboration between the Diocese of Rome, the Sisters of Charity of St. Joanna Antida and Laudato Si’ Movement.
The Episcopal Church of Scotland received a Bronze environmental award at the start of the Season of Creation. It was at St. Serf’s parish in Burntisland, where Geoff Smith, coordinator of the Ecology Group, was awarded for multiple activities, such as the bee and butterfly garden or lifestyle challenges for community members.
The Argentina Chapter began a new series of programs on Radio María for the Season of Creation. There, the chapter’s different initiatives will be shared, as well as proposals to improve lifestyles and eco-spirituality.
A school in Mangaluru, India organized a moving Season of Creation celebration involving students of all ages in a combination of prayer, dance, music and drama, all centered on caring for our common home.
